Outside Type Life

Charlie S., 8th Grade Leland Middle School

When I was little I would think to myself, “We’ll be rich when I am older!” or “When I’m older I want to live in a mansion in the Bahamas!”

But that all changed a few years later. I am older now, and we’re nothing near rich, and nowhere near living close to the Bahamas. But, I wouldn’t change that for anything.

But I am rich in memories, and I’m rich in friends and family. I’m rich with happiness, emotions, and feelings. Forget money, forget being a billionaire, I am so happy.

And, even though I don’t live somewhere with crystal clear waters or insane amounts of well-known people, I live on a ranch, with my family, my horses, my chickens, the cats, and dogs. I will never want anything more than this.

I wake up every morning at 5 AM to go feed the animals. I get muddy and nasty by nighttime. Would I change that? No, not for anything. We sleep outside in a tent some nights just for the stars to be the last thing we see before we go to sleep, and the big blue sky to be the first as we wake up.

This is my life, and I would never give it up.
