Wake Up

Isabella B., 8th Grade Leland Middle School

Look at you.

So small.
So weak.

One person out of 7 Billion.

How are you special?

You’re not.

All those times your Grandma called you special.

All those times your partner said “I love you.”

All those times your teacher called you smart.

You’re not special.

Even some of your favorite people, don’t know your name.

When you die, you will be forgotten.

No one will remember your name.

There’s no point in trying.

Why are you trying?

Because you think you matter.

Get over it.
Don’t wallow in your own pity.

Get up.

Get out of bed.
Make a name for yourself.

Screw what they think.
Make them regret it.

Or…

Just wake up.
