Bowl with Gretchen basket rim
Paper Basket
The basket above and the cardholder are made by coloring a piece of paper and then running it through a paper shredder. From a non-artist point of view, what appears next is that you wave your fingers over the paper for a few minutes, and one of these appears.

About the artist.
Patsy Decker is a retired Tax Attorney who moved to Leland from Athens, Ga., in 2016 to be near her grandchildren. She started weaving baskets while practicing law in Kentucky and it has led to other forms of artistic creativity, including mosaics, woodturning, and quilting. Since moving to the beach area, Patsy has added seashell art to her list of hobbies.
Because Patsy is married to a tightwad, she became concerned about the cost of the wooden lids and bases for the many baskets she makes. So two years ago, when she learned of a beginner’s course offered by the Wilmington Area Woodturners Association, she jumped at it. She also took some classes at Brunswick Community College in Southport.
Patsy loves to travel with her Kentucky basket-weaving friends each year to various advanced classes on basket-weaving. Boo, Gini and Tia meet up with her in places like Kentucky, Virginia, Florida, and Georgia for a week of “full-court press on weaving.”
When asked which she liked best, she couldn’t decide saying, “Any craft I see, I want to give it a try.”
