“None, Music overrated” Is one of the responses in this month’s survey for the most popular music genre in Brunswick County Early College. BECHS has a very diverse student population, and with that diversity comes a diverse music taste. Every student has their own opinions and ideals, even with something as simple as music.
Students worldwide have the same musical opinions. “While reaching the brain in the right areas, music can help to improve mood and focus—which can help us pay attention better while retaining information more effectively.”(Robyn D. Shulman) Music is used to help study and brings your mind to a specific state.
“It can help you calm your physiology without making a conscious effort, and that can alleviate stress from your mind.”( Elizabeth Scott) Students use music to concentrate on their studies and concentrate on their work. Students use music more for studying and concentration than as a distraction.
The survey conducted at BCECHS showed us that there are many, many different song traits. Every student is different in their own regard, and their music tastes show that. “Science shows that music can help improve cognitive performance. In simple terms, it helps your brain function.”(Sofiya Shazal) This study shows how music can improve our performance and brain functions.
