I had a dream about the jungle… don’t know why I was there,
I was drinking beer at the bar, with a Baboon and a Bear,
I snuck out the back and stuck them with the tab,
They both said, hey man, that’s not fair ,
I said boys, don’t get uptight,
It’s just The Circle of Life…
Then I heard a Lyon, cryin’, way up in a tree,
It was the saddest sound that I’d ever seen,
He said he was chasing his prey,
When mean Elephants chase it away,
The meanest Elephants he’d ever seen,
And, said they were eating Jellybeans!
I said don’t cry big guy, and climbed up in that tree,
And I shared the Peanuts, the Elephants traded me,
Then he tried to roar but, could barely squeak,
Something to do with a Peanut allergy,
I told him, don’t get uptight,
It’s just The Circle of Life…
One night the cannibals did what all social cannibals do,
They asked me to dinner, then made me part of their stew,
I’d better wake up soon or, someone hand me a spoon,
It’s only hot water, but something doesn’t seem cool…
They were chanting and dancing, I couldn’t understand a word,
Then, someone yelled duck, and they threw in a bird,
I asked the interpreter: “what are they singing tonight”?
He said it kinda sounds like: “It’s just The Circle of Life”!
So, if you’re reading this, won’t you please wake me up,
I left my “lucky shrunken head”, in the back of my truck,
I know these guys are hungry and times are tough,
But, I’ll never eat soup again, if I ever wake up,
And I won’t get uptight, No, I won’t get uptight,
After all It’s just the Circle of Life… or perhaps a bad dream!
