I have always been the friend there for everybody.
Every friend that’s been in a relationship at least
I’ve always been here for the breakups and the heartbreaks.
Always there for mental breakdowns and the burnout blues.
I was there when your boyfriend broke up with you on Valentine’s Day
Because he wasn’t good enough to begin with obviously.
I was there to comfort you and sit with you after you failed your driving test
Because I want to see you smile and laugh at my stupid jokes to cheer you up.
I was there when you cried on my shoulder because you deserved better than his gross and musty self.
It’s hard being the friend who is always there especially when they’re dating
Especially in high school when love is the air.
But imagine the air feels as heavy as having a 50-pound weight on your back.
Some days it’s like a seemingly clear, blue day with a towering mountain in front of you with the
Icy wind in your face and the only thing you have is a pencil to use to pull you up.
Or like you enjoying your rich, fudgy chocolate ice cream in your hands on a warm summer day
With you sitting on your grandma’s porch and a bird poops on your ice cream.
What I’m trying to get at is, after all that time spent on your friends
At the end of the day when I’m all alone, sitting on my wobbly bed with my big squish mallows
Will love ever come? To all those lonely best friends who believe love will solve that problem
To all of the hopeless romantics who probably just want more attention from their friends
Will that love ever come?
