The students and staff of BCECHS are now among royalty having gained our very own Megan Markle, Ms. Smith. She is the soon-to-be Mrs. King, as she recently got engaged to her now fiance Andrew King.

Ironically, when Ms. Smith was younger, she never thought she would be the type to get married, let alone live with a man. She thought proposals would be a big dramatic event as they are depicted on TV.

The pair met in May of 2020 while she was working at Callahan’s and she was training him. They started officially dating in 2021. A few months ago the topic of marriage and proposing came up.

When the day arrived to be asked for her hand in marriage, she was met with the most beautiful scenery on Bird Island which lies at the end of Sunset Beach. When the realization hit her all she could think was, “Do not be like Mrs. Adams and accidentally say no, just say yes.”

When she did, his family came out from behind the dunes to celebrate and she was greeted by King’s youngest sister with a hug. Everyone enjoyed a nice evening at Maria’s Pizzeria in celebration of such a joyful event.

As the two started to prepare to spend the rest of their lives together, they went ring shopping because King wanted her to see what she liked the most. He used his Grandma’s ring as a symbol in the proposal.

Even though she still thinks boys are disgusting, they are looking into living together in the foreseeable future. They still aren’t sure about things surrounding a wedding, but when they do, her students are welcome to come.

I think we can all agree that no matter what they decide to do, it will be amazing. Our love and support means the world to both of them. So, long live our queen, the future Mrs. King.
