I awoke one morning and opened my eyes,
I looked out my window to a clear blue sky,
Everybody was smiling, as they passed by,
God bless America ~ it’s the 4th of July!
Neighbors loving neighbors, like only Americans do,
Wearing their Pride in their Red, White and Blue,
I felt the soul of a Nation, as I watched that flag fly,
God bless America ~ it’s the 4th of July!
And as the fireworks filled the sky,
I saw the children and old folks smile,
And tears of joy, did fill my eyes,
I wish everyday ~ were the 4th of July!
The road to freedom was paved,
With the sacrifices they made,
So we could wake up one morning, and say,
God bless America ~ it’s Independence Day! □
