Do you like Taylor Swift? Are you looking to expand your Taylor-tastic taste? Well, for the low price of $0.00 you can read this very story and tailor it to your heart’s content.
So, chances are you probably know who Taylor Swift is. She’s objectively only the most influential singer of our time. If you’re not getting ads for her still ongoing Eras tour, then maybe you’ve seen her as Time magazine’s Person of the Year.
If you’ve been living under a figurative rock, I should probably explain further. Taylor Swift, also known as Taylor Alison Swift, is an American singer-songwriter. Her career first skyrocketed with the release of her single Tim McGraw, earning a place on the top 40 chart.
Ever since, Taylor has been a pop culture phenomenon. Her most recent album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ consisted of 31 tracks, bringing her total song count up to a whopping 274.
Now, you might be thinking, 274?! That’s crazy! I really wanted to listen to Taylor Swift, but I just don’t know where to start… and to that, I say oh boy. You came here for a reason, and that reason is to tailor your Taylor. That’s what is about to happen here, hopefully.
So, let’s get into the bread and butter of this story, soon to be Swifties.
During the Tortured Poets Department listening party, set up in C-241 on April 19th, a rating system was set up for each album as a fun pastime for partygoers.
The song, 1989 came out on top with 3 votes. Folklore followed closely with 2, and Lover, Speak Now, and Taylor Swift tied with 1.
Next came the actual Tortured Poets Department ratings.
“So Long London” was the most well-received song, earning an overall 9/10 rating. “Fortnight” came out with an 8/10, “The Tortured Poet’s Department” a 7/10, “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toy” 6/10 and “Down Bad” an 8/10.
A few Swift fans weighed in with their personal favorites. ECHS student Sadie Chapman states that while her favorites are always changing, her current picks would have to be “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me”, “Is it Over Now”, and “Ricochet”. Her least favorite song was “The Best Day”. If you’re feeling sad you may also want to check out her albums Folklore and Evermore.
Another Swift fan, Chrisangel Andres, states that his favorites are “August” and “Mirror Ball”. He believes that you shouldn’t knock her music until you try it, because what you find may surprise you.
All in all, Swift has an endless amount of well-loved music for listeners to explore. While some may try to bring her down, her fans will still adore her.
