Natural disasters could happen to anyone, even you. The rate for natural disasters goes up every year by a significant amount so it’s right to be aware and be ready to do what you need for emergencies like these.
Wildfire
According to the North Carolina Forest Service, in North Carolina alone this year there have been 76 wildfires from the mountains to the coast. Around 17 of those being on the coast. The poll results for this one were pretty even. Fifty percent thought they could survive and 50% thought they could not. There are plenty of ways to keep safe from wildfires people can start by watching for nearby wildfires, keeping smoke outside, and making sure to plan an evacuation route if you live somewhere near wildfires.
Earthquake
There have been 12 earthquakes in North Carolina since the beginning of 2024. Most of the ones felt ranged from 2-3 magnitudes, with only three of those being on the coast. You still need to look out just in case. For the earthquake, almost everyone said that they could survive. For earthquakes, the best thing for you to do would be to hide under a sturdy table or sturdy piece of furniture.
Volcanic Eruption
Based on observations by Study.com there are, in fact, volcanoes in North Carolina, although extinct and will not erupt in the foreseeable future. It’s an occurrence that can still happen if you are in other states or other countries.

Although floods have yet to happen this year, North Carolina has one of the highest flood rates in the USA and according to weather.gov the next flood periods are coming in a couple of months, so it’s good to be aware and know what to do.
