Brunswick County Literacy Council will host its 34th annual charity golf tournament on Wednesday, October 16 at The Links in Brick Landing in Ocean Isle Beach.
The golf tournament offers a day of premier golf and fun-spirited competition, all for a good cause. For a registration fee of $100 per golfer or $400 per foursome, registrants can enjoy a complimentary breakfast and lunch, prizes for top golfers, raffles, and a round of golf with colleagues, friends, or family. A silent auction will also take place.
“Our tournament is much more than a day on the greens,” said Melissa Warren, executive director of Brunswick County Literacy Council. “Our players’ passion for golf makes a significant impact on transforming lives and communities by improving adult literacy rates, which not only effects our students and their families but our county as a whole.”
The golf tournament will be played in a Captain’s Choice format. Registration and the silent auction start at 7:30 a.m., with the auction ending at 9 a.m. Check-in for the golf tournament begins at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. A buffet luncheon will be served at 1:45 p.m.
This year’s tournament will feature a new event to close out the day. “Bottle Bonanza” is a fun putting contest where bottles of liquor are placed on the putting green and golfers pay for opportunities to hit one of the bottles with a putt. If they hit a bottle, they get to keep it as their prize.
Individuals and businesses can also sponsor the golf tournament to help the Brunswick County Literacy Council achieve its goal of spreading awareness and improving adult literacy in the county.
The following sponsorship packages are available for the event: Investor in Literacy Platinum Sponsor, $5,000; Benefactor of Literacy Diamond Sponsor, $2,500; Patron of Literacy Gold Sponsor, $1,000; Advocate of Literacy Silver Sponsor, $500; Advocate of Literacy Lunch Sponsor, $500; Supporter of Literacy Breakfast Sponsor, $250; Donor to Literacy Hole Sponsor, $100.
For more than 40 years, Brunswick County Literacy Council has provided free, one-on-one tutoring sessions for adults 16 and over in the county. Their programs include adult basic literacy, ESL, GED preparation, financial literacy, digital literacy, and citizenship classes.
