I used to sit on my front porch,
Drinking my coffee, watching the world go by,
The sun would shine brightly, everybody was happy,
It was so nice to see all the people smile…
I still remember when we were young,
And innocence was all around,
Nobody had to be afraid,
To take a walk alone…
And our schools were a place,
Where our children could feel safe,
But, now this world is changing,
And you can see it on their face…
When will all these troubles end,
Why can’t everyone be friends,
We can start all over again,
There are no wounds we cannot mend…
If the future’s up to you and me,
Let’s get it back to where it used to be,
When people sang their Songs of Peace,
Together in harmony…
If everybody would just join hands,
Every child, women and man,
Maybe the world would understand,
That we can come together again…
Till then, I’ll sit on my front porch,
Drinking my coffee, watching the world go by,
Because I still believe, there is time for harmony,
And for everyone to be, singing Songs of PEACE.
