It doesn’t seem possible, but the 5th annual Cape Fear Voices/Teen Scene awards banquet is just around the corner. If you haven’t purchased your ticket yet, now is the time! Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 12. Tickets are $70.00.
We will once again be at the Blossoms Club Room, located at 1800 Tommy Jacobs Drive (across from the restaurant.) The buffet dinner includes marinated flank steak, chicken marsala, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables and a house salad. There will also be a cash bar with wine and beer. Check in will be at 5:30, with dinner at 6:00. The program will be all about “Voices!” Come and see what our teens have accomplished and help us celebrate our adult writers in 4 different categories: Non-Fiction/History, Memoir/Personal Essay, Creative Writing/Poetry and Humor.
We are recognizing our teens in the categories of: Reporter of the Year, Intern of the Year, Freelance Writer of the Year, and a Scholarship Award.
As always, we thank our Event Sponsor, the North Carolina Arts Council and the Brunswick Arts Council, represented by Mary Beth Livers and our “Game Changer” Sponsors, NAACP, represented by Carl Parker, Signature Wealth, Duke Energy, Farm Bureau of Leland and First Bank.
Welcome to our new Award-Level Sponsors: Judy Budd of CONNECT, Derek Zuschlag of Z’s Barbershop, Mimi and Papa’s Gourmet Ice Cream, Councilman Bill McHugh, and Sylvan Learning Center.
Please make every effort to support our local sponsors. We couldn’t do what we do without them. There’s still time to become a sponsor at the Award Level for $100, Inspiring Vision Level of $101 to $499, Game Change Level of $500 to $1,000, and the Visionary Level of $1,500. Cammeron Batanides, President of VCAP (Veterans Creative Art Project), will be our guest speaker, talking about the power of art and community. Don’t miss this exciting event.
