Marcus Dawson, a local collage artist that resides in Leland,  is  having his  1^st Solo Art Exhibit at the Leland Cultural Arts Center at 1212 Magnolia Village Way. The opening reception and show will be held June 8^th from    6:00pm-8:00pm.

Mr. Dawson said, “This event is so incredibly special to me for a couple of reasons. During the pandemic to help cope with all that was going on in the world I began to make hand cut collage art at my kitchen table as a self-care practice. I used old books and magazines that I collected throughout the years to make art that brought me so much joy. After some time, I began to share my collage art online via social media. So many people began to reach out and explain how my art brought them so much happiness.   I specifically use bright and bold colors in my work to evoke feelings of peace and light. We all have experienced heavy times and I wanted the art that I make to be an escape (Even if it’s for a moment) from those times.”

Stop in to the Leland Cultural Arts Center on June 8 and enjoy his work.
