Today is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Awareness Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness of the effects of PTSD and supporting those healing from their experiences. The Canines for Service team continues to engage in conversations about how our organization can better serve and support those experiencing PTSD and the lasting effects of their time in service.

We know that based on data from the Department of Veteran Affairs that PTSD diagnoses are increasing and that Veterans are more likely to experience PTSD than their civilian counterparts. At Canines for Service, we have seen this affect our organization with a 57% increase in Veteran applications in the last year. More Veterans than ever before need service dogs.

This past Friday, Canines for Service celebrated the placement of Service Dog Otis with Army Veteran Matt. Matt, like so many Veterans, has experienced PTSD stemming from his more than 10 years of service and multiple combat tours. We need your help to continue to meet the needs of Veterans like Matt awaiting a life-changing service dog.

Give today in support of Veterans experiencing PTSD and it will be matched, dollar for dollar!
