Wednesday September 10th, it started out as a normal day. However, by the end of the day, the entire mood of the day would drastically change.
Charlie Kirk, a young Christian Conservative Commentator went to Utah University to speak to young college students about faith, speaking the truth and living by the Bible, the Good Book.
He was a young Christian Conservative father with two young children, two babies, a three-year-old and one year old.
Within an instant, everything changed.
A young man who would later be known as Tyler Robinson, jumped on to the roof, took a gun out of his pants and started shooting, which hit Kirk in the neck.
He was gushing blood from his neck and was rushed to the hospital. However, the damage was done and he instantly passed away.
When I saw the news, as a proud American, my heart sank and my heart and mind went out to his parents who would have to face the unthinkable reality of having to bury their children, something that no parent ever wants to do.
My heart and mind also went out to his wife Erika, who was now a widow and an only parent and have to face raise their two children on her own.
My heart and mind also went out to their two children, who will never see their father alive again and would rarely get to know him. They will never get to spend Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays, graduation, wedding or special occasions with him again.
Erika showed tremendous strength as two nights after the unthinkable tragedy of losing her husband and soulmate, she spoke to the nation, which I commend her for her strength and courage.
One moment in the speech that really struck me and made me emotional is when she had a one-on-one conversation with her three-year-old daughter Gigi.
Gigi went up to her mother and hugged her.
“Mommy, where’s Daddy? Is he ok?”
Erika hesitates and thinks about how she is going to explain this to her daughter.
She’s three.
Erika answers:
“Listen, Daddy loves you. Daddy is on a work trip with Jesus so he can afford your blueberry budget.”
And if that doesn’t make you emotional, look yourself in the mirror, do some soul searching and as Charlie would say, you need a Come To Jesus moment.
Look inside yourself and picture yourself in that situation and ask yourself how you would feel if you were in that situation.
What is heartbreaking and disturbing is that many people smiled, laughed and cheered about Charlie Kirk’s death.
The death of any American should never be celebrated.
There is a troubling issue in our society as too many of our children and young adults are becoming suicidal and getting into trouble.
They are being taught to use violence and to consider anyone who has different political views or religious beliefs as their rivals.
We are not teaching our children properly, which is heartbreaking.
We need to teach them to spread love and kindness, not hate and violence.
We need to also review where our children and young adults are getting such hateful messages; whether it’s on television, social media, or in video games.
We need to encourage our children and young adults to get off social media and the internet, put down the phone and instead go read a book, read a Bible, go outside, ride a bike, go for a walk and enjoy the beauty of nature.
Do something productive with your life and find something that makes you feel good and happy.
We need to teach our children to pray every day and make them feel good about it. Teach them to talk to God and love God.
Teach them this easy simple prayer:
“Jesus, I Love You. Jesus, I Do. Jesus Believe Me. Jesus It’s True.”
We should teach them to pray to God each morning and make them ask God to help them do something productive every day.
We also need to look into what is being taught in school classrooms.
Schools should be teaching children how to read, write, spell, do basic math and how to treat people and how to be successful in life.
We need to teach them to treat everyone equally with love and respect, no matter what race, gender, religion or political beliefs they have.
We are all human. We are all Americans. We are all God’s children and God put us all on this Earth for a reason, to be successful in life.
We need to learn to love and respect one another again as there is too much hatred in the world today.
The world needs new young leaders with new ideas to help make a stronger brighter future for our country.
Be The Light, Be The Truth, And Make A Difference.
