Leland Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 12196 completed another year with a number of accolades from the State and National VFW. This year the National office notified the Post they finished #5 in the nation for Posts their size. Other awards and recognition from State and National included: #1 in the State and #12 nationally in growth for Post in their division; and #17 in the state for community service.

Post 12196 also achieved All-State and All-American honors for the second straight year.

Past Commander Gerald Decker commented during the July Post meeting, “This is a validation of our business plan. We wanted to focus on what it takes to be a good VFW Post and to build a solid foundation of stability and success.” All of our accomplishments, including being the “Mayor’s Choice of Citizen of the Year for 2020,” shows the quality of our commitment to veterans and to our community.

With the Top 5 finish, VFW National has provided Past Commander Decker with transportation to the National Convention in Phoenix on July 24 to accept the honors. _________________________________________________________________
