As always, the Leland Cultural Arts Center, one of the jewels in the Leland services crown,  has more to offer Leland residents.

Last month we highlighted the new yoga programs and instructors, this month we’re offering a preview of what to expect for the upcoming Fall/Winter  program season.

The Town of Leland Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources (PRCR) Open House is on August 5 from 10 AM – 1 PM at the Leland Cultural Arts Center, located at 1212 Magnolia Village Way.

All are welcome to attend this FREE, family-friendly event where you can meet various instructors at the LCAC and learn about upcoming events. If something catches your eye, you can sign up for the program that day.

Throughout the day, you can try hands-on activities led by instructors to give you a sneak peek into what to expect when you take a program. This is a great time to discuss potential limitations you might have and how your instructor may be able to provide modifications to ensure you’re comfortable throughout the programs!

You can try wheel throwing with Lauren Rogers or pinch pots with Yifenn Strickland, two of the LCAC’s excellent pottery instructors.

Maybe pottery isn’t your thing. If that’s the case, how about learning to brighten up your personal space by planting microgreens with Stefanie Brown, who will instruct a 6-week gardening lecture series and multiple hands-on gardening workshops.

Another option is talking to Debbie Appleby about the beauty of stained glass.  She can teach you how to cut and solder glass into beautiful art pieces.

If you’re looking to increase your daily movement, at 11 AM, Joy Cranidiotis will be leading a short demonstration to familiarize individuals with her dancercise program; at 11:30 AM, Christina Fatum will be leading a short Belly Dance routine, and at 12 PM, Nancy Smith will be leading individuals through rhythm games to introduce them to tap dancing.

Learn about youth programs as you and your child color famous sketches with Trey Moore, who will instruct Painting for Teens. Trey has been a part of the PRCR’s very successful Art Around Town programs.

Get your children up and moving with Chelise Morgan, who will  run through fun movements to give a glimpse of her Creative Movement program happening this year.

Check out their new “Explore the Arts,” a week-long program for Ages 10 – 13, with Gerald Decker as he leads multiple writing exercises.

Finally, if all of that wasn’t enough to keep you busy for an afternoon, there will be art, fibers, and private lesson instructors looking forward to talking to you about upcoming programs!

Make sure to attend the Open House on August 5 from 10 AM – 1 PM! Leland residents receive 10% off of all programs.

Remember, all programs happening this Fall/Winter will be open for registration during Open House.

Don’t miss out on the fun, come and take the opportunity to try something new!

See you on Saturday, August 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
