Leland Middle hosted its annual Veterans Day Program to recognize those who serve our great nation. In addition to inviting area veterans and Leland VFW Post 12196, Principal Shawn Black invited Leland Police Lieutenant Jonathan Hall to be the guest speaker.
Lieutenant Jonathan Hall has been in law enforcement since 2005 and has served his entire career with the Town of Leland. He holds an Advanced Law Enforcement Certification from the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training & Standards Commission, and is a certified general instructor. During his career, Hall has served as a field training officer, a K-9 handler, a SWAT team member, a Taser instructor, and a Patrol Sergeant.
Principal Black read a news article about his grandfather that was a moving tribute to a veteran who never made it home from WWII.
The program began with the Presentation of Colors by the North Brunswick High School JROTC Color Guard. Patriotic music was provided by the LMS Band and Choir.
