Gallery Verrazzano at theArtWorksTM is proud to announce its newest exhibition, “ opening to the public on Friday, April 25, 2025, as part of Wilmington’s celebrated 4th Friday Gallery Nights. The opening reception will take place from 6 PM to 9 PM at 200 Willard Street, welcoming art lovers, collectors, and curious minds alike.
This evocative show explores the artistic rendering of the human face, the figure, and interior spaces—both literal and emotional. Could a face really launch a thousand ships? We encounter faces everywhere: on the street, in our memories, in the mirror. But how do we see them—and how do artists reimagine them?
The exhibition dives deep into the historical and contemporary interpretations of the figure, not limited to the nude but embracing the entire human form, its gestures, postures, and essence. Drawing from artistic traditions ranging from cave paintings to Cezanne and Picasso, the work invites viewers to consider how beauty is subjective and deeply personal.
Faces, Figures, and Interiors also takes a unique look at the spaces we inhabit—from rooms, table settings, and domestic objects to the interior world of thoughts and emotions. Each piece is an invitation to ponder the artist’s intention: What was chosen to be seen? And why?
This show raises compelling questions: What do these depictions reveal? Are they beautiful, unsettling, serene, or thought-provoking? And how might your own interpretation shift as you move through the exhibition?
