They were happy when he came home safe,
But they knew something was not the same,
There were emotional scars and pain,
Like so many others, he had changed…
What causes these changes to the mind,
It’s sometimes be difficult to defined,
They search for answers and reasons why,
As they fight the Battles of The Mind…
There are no easy answers for PTSD,
When their memories won’t let them be,
And far too many do not complain,
And we don’t always know, until it’s too late…
Asking critical question can save a life,
When there may be thoughts of suicide,
Ask them to share their thoughts with you,
Even Battles of The Mind can be won, too.
They need all our help, if they’re to survive,
Help in finding hope and purpose in life,
Encouragement and empathy from caring ones,
Lets them know we honor all they have done. □
