They left their homes at far too young,
To fight for peace and freedom,
They were Soldiers, brave and strong,
And they were each somebody’s son.
One came home from his last tour,
His comprehension slightly blurred,
The things he’d seen within his time,
Left their scars upon his mind.
One came home, less than complete,
From the IED beneath his feet,
His courage knew no bounds,
As he made his country proud.
One came home in a wooden box,
With our flag draped across its top,
His legacy will forever be,
He gave his life to keep us free.
They were soldiers, answering the call,
“All gave some and some gave all”,
When times test our nation’s fate,
Our soldiers are our Saving Grace. □
