It just doesn’t seem possible that June is here already. As a friend of mine likes to say, “that means it’s only 208 days until Christmas!”
In this issue we welcome back some authors who have been busy with life. Gerald Decker, who has been taking writing classes through the VCAP program gives us, “A Sailor Remembers,” taking us back to the ship on which he served, and “Telling Your Story,” where he encourages all military personnel to write about their experiences.
We also welcome back, Sheryl Keiper. She is adding some comedy to our issue with, “Cindy Rocks.”
If you didn’t see Janet Stiegler’s story, “The Beaches of Normandy,” in the May issue, take a look it. She recently traveled to France and experienced not only beautiful places but historic and reverent places.
We welcome a new writer, Patty Kelly, Lt. Col. (Ret.), USAF, who wrote “Patriot Detail,” also through the VCAP writing program.
Our regulars, Lisa Mote and John Gozzi, make us take a step back and think about our lives and our community, in “The Summer of Lisa,” and “Leland – A Town At the Crossroads.”
And I hope all of our fathers enjoy their special day this month. Make sure you read Dan Neizmik’s story, “Family is Everything.”
We also have a lot of contributed pieces this month with news of things for you to do and helpful hints. Make sure you read, “Hurricane Meal Kits,” in anticipation of the hurricane season. It’s important information.
I will be on vacation for part of the month of June, so I ask our writers to keep writing and fill my inbox with summer stories and what’s on your mind. I look forward to reading you when I get back.
